It's no secret that one of my favourite things to do is spend a day at the beach, and living in Aruba with some of the worlds best beaches on my doorstep it's no surprise!
My problem is I can't just lay basking in the sun all day. I get bored too quickly and need something to stimulate my mind, body and soul.
So here's my little list of free activities that I love to do at the beach...
There's just something about putting your face in the water and exploring the beauty of the sea that makes you mentally switch off to all your worries and makes you focus on the mesmerising world below you.
My favourite snorkel spots in Aruba are:
Ok, so maybe you will have to pay to rent a kayak so this one is technically not "free" but if you are lucky enough to have a friend who owns some kayaks or be staying at a vacation rental property that provides these for you then this is a free activity that's definitely worth doing.
The motion of the ocean, the wind blowing through your hair and the salt spraying on your face as you meander around the rugged coast line is the perfect way to explore hidden coves and bays on the island.
READ A BOOK
A super simple activity that allows you to truly zone out and immerse yourself in the story being told between the pages.
It's been a while since I have indulged in this simple pleasure so if you've got any recommendations of good books to read at the beach please let me know!
Searching for little treasures is an old time childhood classic that I still love to do today.
If you look hard enough you can find some real unique beauties that have been washed up on the shore.
FYI: It is against the law to take sea shells home with you, so please admire their beauty but remember to leave them as you found them.
TAKE A STROLL
Nothing beats the feeling of sand between your toes!
Whenever I take a walk along the shore and feel the cool refreshing sea sweep over my feet, I am instantaneously reminded of how lucky I am to be here and call Aruba my HOME!
